London Sevens Rugby

London Sevens Rugby

London Sevens rugby is an annual international rugby union tournament, played at London's Twickenham Stadium, the world's most famous rugby ground and one of Europe's largest sports stadia. The London Sevens rugby tournament takes place over a weekend each May and has grown into one of the most popular London attractions with rugby fans.

Rugby Sevens is a form of rugby union sanctioned by the International Rugby Board, which has just seven players per side, instead of the usual fifteen. The games are short, speedy and always packed with incident. The London Sevens rugby tournament is part of the IRB Sevens World Series - points from each tournament in the series are accumulated to determine the World Sevens Rugby Champions.

London Sevens involves sixteen international sides playing two action-packed days of rugby. Similar to cricket's Twenty20 matches, the London Sevens rugby is full of colour and other forms of entertainment such as music, making the tournament a big part of London's sporting summer.
